From November 19 to December 3, 2011, I will one of twenty-six teachers from across the U.S. participating in the Toyota International Teacher Program to Costa Rica. The project is coordinated by the Institute of International Education.
The program will highlight Costa Rica's rich culture, biodiversity, and conservation efforts. The focus is eco-tourism, sustainable agriculture, and resource management. After an orientation in San Antonio, Texas, we'll continue on to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. Among the many destinations in Costa Rica are Guacimo, home of the EARTH University, Sarapiqui, a popular eco-tourism stop, and La Fortuna, near the active Arenal Volcano.
As part of my participation project I will be blogging as Internet access permits and attempting at least one Skype contact. I am looking forward to forging new ties for the Eisenhower global learning community.
